Reimagining Instruction, Schools, and Education
The U.S. education system is at a pivotal moment. Professional learning has to be effective, now; we must push to not only reduce the impacts of coronavirus on student learning, but to also combat decades of declining academic achievement. RISE helps schools and districts shift their focus to what matters most.
Focus on Teachers
Research and countless personal experiences reveal the impact of a quality teacher is undeniable. There is no doubt that improving our education system requires an investment in teachers.
Focus on Schools
Schools must resemble factories that build students up instead of remaining refineries that only improves that which was already good.
Title: Focus on Students
Education must strive to empower, develop students intellectually and morally. Education must also ensure social mobility for anyone with the desire to achieve it.
Reimagining Teacher Development
The traditional approaches used for teacher development are often driven by compliance rather than individual teacher growth resulting in limited school-wide change.
The variance in teacher effectiveness across classes, across grades, makes it far more important to consider what class a student is in rather than the school he/she attends. This then identifies the true goal of school reform; increase equitable instruction across classrooms. School improvement must become all hands-on deck’, where all teachers get better.
RISE Commitments
- Provide a fully immersive approach that meets educators where they are to initiate a springboard to increased capacity. Ensuring that all students receive the very best instruction to reach their full potential.
- Ensure that teachers, schools, and districts reach new levels of capacity to sustain student growth.
“We must change our focus – from owning the teaching to owning the learning. This requires relentless inspection and ongoing feedback. When coupled with a positive learning environment, all students are capable of success.”
-Terry A. Morgan
