RISE - Reimagining Instruction Schools and Education

By: Terry Morgan

Ineffective teacher development is a chronic problem in our education system; one that continually impacts teacher quality and student success as well. RISE-Reimagining Instruction, Schools, and Education explores the phenomenon of teaching and the measures needed to improve it.

U.S schools are facing serious performance challenges. Academically, schools are neither living up to standards of international excellence, nor are they achieving standards of domestic adequacy. Increasing student achievement and overcoming past and present concerns begins with a focus on developing effective teachers. Given the correlation between teacher quality and student achievement, it is critical that professional learning improves every teacher’s effectiveness in a manner that supports learning for all students regardless of their backgrounds or socioeconomic status. RISE is as much about increasing student achievement as it is about improving how teachers learn.
