Reimagining Instruction, Schools, and Education

The U.S. education system is at a pivotal moment. We must push to not only reduce the impacts of the coronavirus, but to also combat decades of declining academic achievement. Efforts to improve teacher quality and student achievement must improve. It is time to establish a reset. It is time to Reimagine Instruction, Schools, and Education!

Focus on Teachers

There is no doubt that improving our education system requires an investment in teachers. Research and countless personal experiences reveal that the impact of teachers is undeniable. Education reform must begin and end with a focus on supporting teachers.

Focus on Schools

For decades schools have maintained the status quo and operated as a refineries, wherein only some students benefit. Schools must transform to instead resemble factories that develop and inspire all students to be innovative thinkers who are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.

Focus on Students

Students are the most important stakeholder in the education system. Above all else, we must ensure that all student have access to high quality instruction and a viable pathway toward future success.  This must become our charge because ALL students are capable of success, no exceptions.

Reimagining Teacher Development

The variance in teacher effective across classrooms makes it far more important to consider what classroom a student learns in than the school he/she attends. This inequity drives RISE’s mission to increase access to high quality instruction for every student, in every classroom, every day. Far too often, professional learning is driven by compliance rather than a focus on individual teacher growth. School improvement must become “all hands on deck”, wherein all teachers are motivated, equipped, and pushed to improve.

Success can no longer be contingent on getting the “good” teacher. We must build a school culture where every teacher can be the “best” teacher!

RISE Commitments

We must change our focus - from owning the teaching to owning the learning. This requires relentless inspection and ongoing feedback. When coupled with a positive learning environment, all students are capable of success.
